What is Chiropractic?

The World Health Organisation defines chiropractic as "A health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuro-musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health. There is an emphasis on manual techniques, including joint adjustment and/or manipulation with a particular focus on subluxations." Chiropractors have 5 years of university education which focuses on understanding the function of the spine and nervous system.

Chiropractic Care, babies and children

Many parents choose to bring their babies and children to the Chiropractor for the assessment of their neuro-musculo skeletal system. Infancy and childhood are times of rapid growth. It is important to ensure that the connections between the brain and body develop and function well. Healthy nervous system function can support the achievement of developmental milestones.

We are committed to the careful assessment and gentle correction of your child’s spine and neuro-musculo-skeletal system to support their healthy development.

Chiropractic and Pregnancy

The incredible physical and hormonal events occurring in a woman’s body during pregnancy are both miraculous and challenging…  It is a time when the body expresses an amazing wisdom.

Ligament laxity, weight gain and shifts in the body’s centre of gravity are some of the extraordinary changes that accommodate a growing baby.  These changes sometimes create joint discomfort, particularly in the low back and pelvis and stress to soft tissues like muscles and ligaments.

Chiropractors are skilful at assessing improper joint motion and function.  Restoring balance to the musculoskeletal system can make pregnancy a more comfortable journey for many women.

We use gentle blocking procedures, and other SOT techniques to assist with healthy function throughout this time and to prepare the body for birthing.

We are experienced in the gentle care of women during all stages of pregnancy.
